What's In The Course?

How To Make Epic Wooden Rings

Next level wooden rings is an online course that will teach you everything you need to know about making wooden rings.

You'll learn about the tools, materials and techniques used by the pros to make stunning rings for your loved ones and customers.

By the time you’re done you’ll have all of the skills needed to make wooden rings to an impressive, professional standard (you might even put me out of a job one day!).

Here's How It Works:

The course is made up of 10 online modules that will walk you step by step through everything you need to know about making rings out of wood. You’ll start by learning the basics (so it’s great for complete beginners) and progressively learn more advanced techniques to put some spark into your designs. Even if you’re a battle hardened ring maker there’s something here for you.

Meet The Maker

Dan Rees, @Zebranowoodcraft

My name is Dan Rees and since July 2014 I've been making a full time income from selling wooden rings online.  I've made over 1,500 rings in my career and served customers all over the world from my Etsy shop, Zebrano Wood Craft.

I am completely self taught and I first got the bug for ring making after a friend introduced me to woodworking one summer.  I quickly found that making things with my hands gave me a sense of pride and purpose I had never experienced before and totally fell in love with wood crafts.

One thing led to another and I became fascinated by wooden jewellery, especially rings!  I'd never been keen on wearing jewellery myself but some of the wooden rings I saw online were just amazing!  It became my quest to learn how to make wooden rings as good as the pros.

Unfortunately for me there were only a handful of resources out there at the time for making wooden rings so I had to learn through trial and error.  I'll be honest my first 50 wooden rings were terrible but I kept going, learning from my mistakes and developing repeatable techniques that worked every time.

I got good enough to sell a few of my creations and now Zebrano Wood Craft is my full time job.

To show gratitude to the internet I started a Youtube channel where I share my knowledge (which I'm happy to say has inspired a few people to start making) and now I've put together this course so I can go into even more detail about my craft.

Next Level Wooden Rings is 7 years of knowledge compiled into one place and is the resource I will use to train apprentices in my shop.

I hope to keep on teaching and sharing with others as learning how to craft jewellery changed my life and I hope it will change yours too!

Here's What You Get

10 Modules Of In Depth Tutorials

In my YouTube videos, I don’t get the chance to show every step of a project (it would just take too long to produce!). Here, you’ll be able to follow me with every step as I explain each process in depth so no questions will be left unanswered. This is the closest you can get to becoming my apprentice in my workshop!

Complete Tool and Material List

Get detailed lists of tools and materials in PDF format so you can find out what suppliers I use to get the best quality kit. You won’t need to break the bank on tools and you could get a full workshop set up with all the frills for under $500. You also won’t need a massive workspace, a garage or large shed is plenty enough space!

Ring Sizing Made Simple

Get ring sizes and widths right every time with my repeatable processes. No more starting projects over or second guessing yourself, you’ll make rings that fit perfectly every time. You’ll also have a resource to advise customers on how to find their ring size accurately.

Build Your Skills Gradually

The course will lay a good foundation of basic skills before building up to advanced techniques so you can learn how to make professional grade rings one step at a time. It doesn’t matter if you are a complete beginner or if you’ve had experience at making rings you will find value here.

Finishing made simple

Learn how to enhance the natural beauty of the wood and protect your rings from the elements so they are pleasing on the eye but super durable. There are detailed lessons on C.A glue finish, UV resin for epic shinyness and a wax alternative for a natural look. All bases are covered from application, fixing/avoiding mistakes and full power polishing!

Get Creative With Inlays

To inlay simply means to ornament an object by embedding a different material into it flush with it’s surface. Throughout the course you’ll get to grips with adding precious metals, crushed stones, opals and other woods. These lessons will teach you the skills you need to get creative with your designs and add character to your rings.

Is your workshop too cold right now? Do you have a busy schedule? No idea if you can dedicate the time over the coming weeks?

Don’t worry! Next Level Wooden Rings has full, lifetime access. Once you’re signed up you can access the course whenever, wherever you like. This means you can take your time and learn at your own pace. If you don’t have time to make rings right now (or it is too cold) simply wait until you're ready and then dive in.

You’ll also have access to The Vault where I’ll be continuing to add content so you can learn even more skills over time and make truly unique rings.

I started my own business!

Shawn Beatty, @OddWoodDesign

This course is awesome! Dan's ways of teaching are literally next level, he keeps everything interesting, humorous and professional. Even after making rings for about a year, I learned something new in every lesson and polished my skills way more than I ever anticipated, helping me to start my own business. There is a boat load of stuff on here to keep me busy for months, and new classes get added on a regular basis. I have zero regrets in joining the Next Level Family!
TC Marriott

Saved me lots of time!

TC Marriott

I’ve been really impressed with the Next Level Wooden Rings course, and the quality of the rings I’ve been able to make as a result of taking it. I came into it already having tried my hand at making a few rings, having learnt a few things through Youtube videos and lots of trial and error. The benefit of this course was that it saved so much unproductive time spent trying to find out what works, while still setting you up to try new things once you know the basics. Danial is great at sharing his vast experience in an engaging way, taking you through what to do, what not to do, and how to fix mistakes when they happen. I could also be confident that the methods I was learning were the best way to go because I was learning from a true craftsman who has tried them all himself.
Brooke Owen Frantz

The next best thing to having one on one lessons.

Brooke Owen Frantz

The Next Level Rings course is the next best thing to actually having one on one lessons. I had no experience at all with ring making before I stumbled across Dan's YouTube channel, but his enthusiasm made me want to learn as much as I could and give it a go. Dan presents the info in a really easy to grasp fashion, and as soon as I thought of a question he would answer it in his next sentence. I'd highly recommend the course to any newbies looking to get started.
Sterling Hoffman, @StoneForgeStudios

Detailed, fun and interactive.

Sterling Hoffman, @StoneForgeStudios

Since beginning Dan's course I have learned so many new and handy tricks when it comes to bentwood ring making. I have been making wood rings for over 4 years now and even with prior experience I am learning new things through this course. Techniques such as how to properly use CA glue, which woods are best for rings, proper ways to inlay materials, etc. Dan has created a very detail oriented, fun, and interactive course. I am excited to continue to learn from him and continue creating rings utilizing the skills I've learned here! Rock on!

Doesn't just go through the motions ...

Randy May, @GoMeowCreations

This course is very well put together with lots of great information. Dan doesn’t just go through the motions when teaching you, he points out how you will make mistakes, show you that this is normal and move on to show you how to fix them. In my opinion this is the best way to learn!

FAQ

  • What if I don’t have a workshop?

Don't worry you won't need a huge inspirational workshop overlooking the Shire. A small space in a garage, a shed or a spare room with ample light and ventilation is perfect.

  • What if I have ZERO tools to start? Do I need a lathe?

No sweat you can get a bare bones tooling set up for under $100 and the good thing with wooden rings is the materials aren't expensive at all! Also if you have done any crafting or woodworking before then chances are you have a few tools you could use to get started. I didn't have a lathe when I started and I learned how to make some of the most complex rings entirely by hand so I would say no. If you get better and you want to speed your work up a little then consider getting a lathe down the line.

  • Will materials be expensive?

Compared to metalsmithing or woodworking I'd say materials are cheap. A mixed pack of wood veneer can be bought on Amazon for as little as $20 and will give you enough material to make hundreds of rings!

  • Is it a follow along or self study course? How long will it take?

You get full access to the entire course right away so you can either Netflix binge it or take your time going through the modules. It's a self study course you can take at a pace that suits you. Hopefully you can learn what took me 2 years in under 6 weeks. It honestly depends how much you practice and how fast you want to go really.

  • I’m a complete beginner, is that ok?

YES! I've designed the course to cover all of the basics for complete beginners with lots of cool techniques to learn to bring you up to an intermediate/advanced level. Plus if you're completely new then you haven't learned any bad habits yet!

  • How is the course different to your Youtube videos?

On Youtube I do my best to be entertaining rather than in depth so my videos there are vague and fast paced. In this course I go into detail about every step of every project so no questions go unanswered (and trust me I get a lot of questions from my Youtube videos!). The videos in the course are much more educational.

  • Isn’t the course a bit expensive?

There's a lot of value wrapped up in this course and the bonus content and I think it is priced very reasonably. There are other online jewellery and woodworking courses out there that charge $100+ per lesson and in this course you get 40+ lessons included in the price. You could also make back the price of this course in just a handful of sales and think how much you'll save on giving gifts this year! I honestly wouldn't sell at this price point if I didn't think you'd get 10x the value/enjoyment from it.

  • Can I ask you questions if I get stuck?

Yes definitely! All students get access to a private Facebook group so when you enroll you can reach me there. This way I can answer questions for everyone's benefit and you can learn from other students.

How Much Is It To Sign Up?

I've priced this course as fairly as possible to students, myself and the market.

If you were to learn with me in person you would pay $320 per day (around £250) for my time plus materials.

There are at least 4 full workshop sessions (that's a conservative estimate) included in the course + bonuses so that's a value of: $1280 (£966).

(Don't worry I won't be selling NLWR for that much!)

You could do what I did and learn by trial and error but I honestly wasted at least 6 months of my time and a lot of quality materials.  This course will shave weeks (probably months) off your learning curve.

I've also had clients pay me £150+ per hour for coaching but you will get access to me in the Facebook group plus hours of in depth tuition in the course.

  • 4 Days of workshop time with me = $1280 (£960)
  • 1 hour of coaching = $193 (£150)
  • Time and materials for learning by trial and error = Lots.
  • Total Value = $1473 (£1147)

Today you get full lifetime access to Next Level Wooden Rings for just $320 (£249 in the UK).

You could make that back by selling a single pair of wooden rings and just think how much money you will save on Christmas and birthday presents this year!

If it seems expensive then consider how much you will learn and that there are online jewellery courses that charge $150+ for a single tutorial.   Here you get 10 full modules, an ever expanding database of knowledge and a mainline to your Sensei + fellow students.

It's a bargain, get involved!
